Joomla Tutorial - Configuring Your Site

Outline

  1. Log in to Joomla! administration
  2. From top menu: 'Site' > 'Global Configuration'
  3. Site Tab
    1. Site Offline: When you are wanting to turn off your site set this to 'Yes'
    2. Offline Message: The message shown when your site is 'offline'
    3. Default WYSIWYG Editor: 'No editor' will disable the text and image editor so you only see the html code of the content
    4. Global Site Meta Description: This is the info search engines will show to describe your site to potential customers. Should be one or two full sentences that are rich with keywords for your site.
    5. Global Site Meta Keywords: Keywords to associate your site with, separate each keyword with a coma. (approx 25 keywords)
    6. SEO Settings- Set these to 'Yes' for the most search engine friendly 'URL's' - we only support this option through the hosting offered by TCSOTB
  4. System Tab - *Be very cautious with this tab, changing to the wrong setting could crash your site*
    1. Cache Settings: Set this to 'Yes' if you notice your website is running slowly. This will help your site load faster if needed- adverse effect is any change you make to your site will not show for up to 24 hours.
  5. Server Tab
    1. Mail Settings
      • Mail From - enter the email address you would like emails to show as coming from when sent to customers from your site (such as for registration)
      • From Name - the name you would like emails to show from
  6. Click 'Save'
